Thanks to the VCStar for featuring me on their article on El Nino.
“During the El Niño of 1997 the Santa Clara River blew through and formed this huge sand bar south of the Ventura Harbor,” said Wallace, a residential real estate broker for Keller Williams in Ventura. “The river mouth faces straight west and is a real swell magnet. We had incredible surf for two to three months.””We have to get hit with the west and northwest swells that make it around Point Conception,” he explained. “The higher-than-average surf will happen with swells that come in from 275 to 290 degrees. Anything north of 300 degrees gets blocked by Point Conception and the Channel Islands.”
